Directly adjacent to the Monte Sereno community sits the world-renowned Santa Fe Opera. This historic institution has been one of the world’s premier opera houses since its inception in 1956. The Opera has held more than 2,000 performances, with 45 American premieres, and 14 world premieres. Many of the world’s most distinguished opera singers began their careers here, including William Burden, Joyce DiDonato, and Michael Fabiano.
But the Santa Fe Opera is more than a venue. Like Monte Sereno itself, it is alive with the spirit of Santa Fe, and could only exist here. Resting proudly atop a grand mesa, the Opera looks to the east at the rugged Sangre de Cristo range; to the south lie rolling juniper and piñon hills; open reaches of high desert stretch to the north, and, to the west, magical Southwest sunsets unfold each night.
For most residential communities, to sit next to such a jewel would be remarkable. For Monte Sereno, it just feels like home.
